A Very Special Bitterest Pill: Boy to the World

a.k.a. “A Podcaster is Born.” This special non-subscription edition is co-hosted by my 5 3/4 year old son, Hudson. Wow. I thought the whole thing was going to be a train wreck, but he ended up doing such a great job (clearly I’m biased) that I thought I’d include it here as a “*Special Presentation.” He says he wants to do a regular podcast called “The Hudson Original.” I think we have another convert.

He and I talk about today’s disasters with the Wesson oil and the tipping tree, and then recommend some Christmas CDs (his pick: James Brown). Finally, we wrap things up by playing “Joy to the World” by The Butties, a former Syracuse University Beatles cover band whose music has been featured on Scrubs and Christmas With the Kranks. Special thanks to Mark Humble of The Butties for sending me the CD, and to all The Butties for allowing us to play their music.

*I realize that most people think their own children are just priceless, and that other people’s kids are a complete bore, which is why this is not part of the regular show.

  1. Fantastic podcast – Hudson should have his own show ! Gonna play it to my daughter – it’ll make her laugh.

  2. OHO! My kids are most certainly not precious. They are enemies to the airwaves in some respects. But they really like podcasting. I guess they are not the only kids out there who do nowadays! I can’t wait to hear your podcast. I’m putting it on the iPod now. Read the review by kinrowan. I hope you are all feeling better by now. We are looking forward to 10 inches of snow here in Chitown so sleds should keep us hopping.

  3. Hot diggity. That was a racy program.

What a great name for the “upcoming show”: Hudson Original. I have yet to hear anything else of the pills, so I don’t know what the last five months have been like for you.

I am psyched. This was way, way, way better than the ho-hum state-owned content in Denmark. (Let’s never mention commercial content. Sad, sad stuff.) Great show.
