I did our taxes this past week.  The good news is we don’t owe the government TEN thousand dollars.  Oh, thank goodness!

My daughter had to work on her Friend of the Week poster at the park, while my son played in the soccer finals and I tried not to photograph the moms playing around the playground.  If a woman takes her kids to the park in heels and a tight blazer, I think that is entrapment and I think they should be stopped.  I’m not saying we should go back to those horrible acid-washed “Mom-Overall-Shorts” of the 80′s and 90′s, but give me a break!  Moms in the real word shouldn’t look like they’re on Desperate Housewives.  Oh, wait.  I don’t live in the real world.

There was traffic on the freeway, so I took a short cut.  A short cut to a trap.  Ugg.  Would doing a u-turn kill me?  You’d think.

I have been anxiously shopping for birthday gifts for two girls I don’t know and for winter clothes for Hudson.  Yes, winter clothes.  One of the great things about living in Southern California is that if you drive in the right direction long enough, you will hit snow.  So, Hudson will be in the snow for four days.  Hundreds of dollars of snow clothes for four days.  Yeesh.

The guy who cuts our lawn, Joe Moenblough, has been away, recuperating from a hip replacement.  Part of me feels guilty for having a guy mow his lawn who would need a hip replacement, and part of my hope we pay him enough…

I have straightened out a couple of my drawers.  Long overdue.  It was like an archeological dig.  I found some interesting artifacts.

I miss records. Albums and 45s.  Especially albums.  Because life is not a bunch of mp3s of your favorite songs, carefully crafted into a playlist of your greatest hits.  Life is album sides.  Some hits, some misses, some filler.  But, without the misses and filler, there are no hits.  There is only the endless search for the elusive perfect playlist.

Strange one.

Started out talking innocently enough about the Today Show segment, being a stay-at-home dad when the camera are not rolling, today being tax day, which means I’ve had to come head to head with just how little I make a year, and the one day I actually talked to another parent at the park and Princess T. almost breaks her back.
In part two I explain the devastating depressive spiral I had to edit out of the show. Listen, the truth is, I’m just trying to get through the next 25 minutes.

Hudson and I adjusted the front derailer on my hand-me-down bicycle. You know, every once in a while, you really need to adjust your derailers.

I also read a segment from my upcoming best seller.

I have been trying to watch Vimeo on my TV.  Turns out there are several yoga videos on Vimeo, several of which are “naked yoga.”  What?  You know what, there is such a thing as “too much naked.” (The video of the amazing yoga girl is at Vimeo.  She is clothed.)

Hugo and I have a new hobby: tormenting possums at 11:15pm. It’s like having a hunting dog, chasing jacalopes across the plains.  Turns out, I can no longer throw…

My father had a heart arrhythmia.  I don’t think it was actually arrhythmic.  I think his heart kept perfect rhythm, it was just at 500 bpm.

I went down to my folks place to see how he was doing.  On the way home, to avoid falling asleep on the freeway, I stopped to see the spot where I learned a powerful word…

I went to a couple more agent workshops just before Christmas. Holy cow.  It was the best of times, it was the worst.  I think I helped get someone fired and I couldn’t be happier about it.  When the careers or 29 people are on the line, so is the career of #30.
